I helped Lazarus build LLW Seminars into the self-help empire it is today. I served as his personal assistant and travel companion for fifteen years, and I was treated like royalty everywhere we went. Over the years, we acquired some Hollywood devotees, so he and I went to more than a few movie premieres as honored guests. Even though we lived in San Diego, I did most of my shopping on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. We were invited to all the best parties, enjoyed fabulou

I am convinced that Susan Bennett must have been a member of a polygamous community in a previous life. Though I still can’t determine if as wife or husband. Her ability to create characters that depict this variety of real-life society is amazing. Add well-written English that makes reading the book a journey into what may be twisted minds, though perhaps not. But, I am a fan and may be biased.

Mrs. Bennett does it again. I’ve read most of her work and in each one, I’m held hostage by the characters and the story. I loved this book and the ending was superb. I found myself unable to put the book down and deal with reality.

Susan, you’ve blown my mind with this book!!!

Interesting, suspense filled story, March 19, 2011

This review is from: The Prophet’s Wives (Kindle Edition)
When I first picked up this book, I didn’t really have any idea what genre this book was in or what the book was really going to be about. The book excerpt in the product description was from the first few pages of the book and didn’t give an overall feel for the book.

The author’s writing style immediately drew me right into the story. I found the story very interesting and I kept reading to try to get a better feel for where the story was going and how it would develop. The story was compelling enough to keep me up most of the night to finish this book.

Characters – in the beginning of the story the characters were kind of confusing. The author jumped right into the ongoing story and it took a while to get the characters and their back story. All was revealed with the characters later on and things started to make more sense about 1/3 of the way through the book. I thought the characters were interesting but I would have liked a bit more character development. Fleshing out the characters a bit more in the story would have made it a little more cohesive and less jumpy.

Plot – the plot drew me right in and kept me quite interested all of the way to the end of the story. There were a few places where the story seemed to drop off the face of the earth then pop in again somewhere totally different that seemed a bit disquieting but later in the story I can see why the author did that. The story was suspense-filled with a plot that moved right along. The story didn’t feel rushed nor did it feel like it stayed in one place too long.

Looking at the tags, I think a couple are incorrect. This is NOT a story about Mormon Polygamy nor do I think it speaks about a religious cult in any way. I would characterize the organization more as a “self help” type of group.

Sex, violence, explicit language – There is some sex referred to in this book as part of the story and it is not gratuitous sex or very explicit in nature. There are a couple of instances of violent behavior but it is not gory and is part of the plot of the book. I did not remember any swearing or explicit language in the book. This is definitely a book for adults and I would not recommend it to kids or young adults.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it for folks looking for a suspense story. I did not give any of the plot points of the story since I feel that it would be giving away spoilers to the story. The story is pretty dark in places. It drew me in very quickly and kept me interested until the end of the story.
