We read endless amounts about how our diet affects our overall well-being, but if you are trying to become pregnant, you may be wondering if there is a specific diet for IVF success. Most of the elements of a generally healthy diet are also appropriate to aid conception.
As you might well expect, fresh fruits and vegetables figure highly. Eating a minimum of 5 different pieces of fruits and vegetables will help you get the antioxidants, vitamins and minerals you need to keep your reproductive system healthy. Try to vary the color of what you are eating and bear in mind that the darker fruits and vegetables are generally richer in vital nutrients.
Fluids are important too. Hydration helps keep the vital organs healthy so you should drink at least 2 liters of filtered water daily. Avoid caffeinated and fizzy drinks. There is some evidence to suggest that drinking green tea can help you conceive if going through IVF.
A diet for IVF success should also include protein from lean organic meats, nuts, eggs and beans. You should avoid seafood which contains mercury. In addition, dairy produce is beneficial due to the high levels of calcium it contains.
You should try, where possible, to eat foods which have not been processed, so choose brown rice and wholemeal bread over white, avoid processed meats such as salamis and sausages and avoid eating too much sugar and hydrogenated fats.
With regard to taking dietary supplements, these can be beneficial, but should be seen within the context of enhancing a healthy diet for IVF success, rather than as a substitute for eating well. There are many proprietary supplements available and you may wish to find out which your own doctor recommends.
If you would like further comprehensive information on how you can significantly increase your chances of IVF success, you might like to consider taking a look at the program, The Full Embrace.
Specifically designed to teach you exactly what to eat before in vitro fertilization, this program will help dramatically improve your chances of becoming pregnant with just one cycle, using techniques which are scientifically proven to work. The diet for IVF success is one of several steps designed to work together to help speed up the process.
